New Films Added to REEL CANADA Catalogue!

The 4th Edition of our catalogue is going to print in just a few short days, and it’s going to feature five new great Canadian movies!

Here’s a sneak peek at the three new features and two new docs we’ll be offering in 2008-09:

1) Away From Her, which was directed by Sarah Polley and nominated for a couple of Oscars in 2006 (but more importantly, won seven of Canada’s own Genies, among nearly 40 awards worldwide). A heartbreaking tale of friendship, love and devotion, it tells the story of Fiona (Julie Christie) and Grant (Gordon Pinsent), a couple whose 40 year bond of love and happiness is tested when she begins to exhibit signs of Alzheimer’s.

2) Citizen Duane is a quirky comedy with a lot of heart. Duane Balfour is a teen with big dreams born into a family of spectacular failures. What starts out as a simple schoolyard rivalry snowballs out of control when Duane decides to run for mayor of his tiny town of Ridgeway. With the help of his misfit uncle (Donal Logue), he might just stand a chance of becoming a credible candidate!

3) The Corporation. Our world is dominated by giant global corporations like Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Nike or Sony. This insightful, funny and often surprising documentary places corporations on the psychiatrist's couch for analysis and asks the question: if a corporation were a person, what kind of person would it be? The answer might shock you, but the interviews with over 40 corporate gurus, critics and insiders are sure to enlighten and entertain.

4) How She Move is jam-packed with wild dance choreography, booming rhythms and a very talented young cast. After the tragic death of her older sister, Raya Green (Rutina Welsley) most leave her private school and come home to help her parents face the difficulties they’re in. Raya dreams of becoming a doctor, but soon finds herself drawn back into the world of dance she thought she’d left behind forever.

5) Sharkwater is a visually stunning, eye-opener of a documentary that will change the way you see the oceans! Driven by a life-long fascination with sharks, filmmaker Rob Stewart wants to dispel the myth that they’re bloodthirsty, merciless monsters. Stewart teams up with a rogue environmentalist and sets off on an unbelievable adventure, to battle shark poachers on the high seas across the globe.
