I'm Kat - I work for REEL CANADA, and I'd like to welcome you to our blog, where I'll be your intrepid guide through the world of Canadian film.
<-- This is me with Mayor David Miller at RH King Academy in Toronto. If I look a bit tired in the picture, it's because my day started at 5am - but the Mayor made it all worthwhile. Not only did he introduce a couple of films in front of two huge auditoriums full of students, he also read the school's morning announcements over the P.A. system. As you may know, REEL CANADA is a traveling film festival that brings Canadian films into Canadian high schools, allowing students to experience the incredible diversity of films being made in this country.
We at REEL CANADA are passionate about exposing Canadian students to the wide spectrum of awesome movies made right here in our own back yard - whatever your tastes, there's likely to be a Canadian film to match them.
Last year, we went all over Ontario spreading the word about home-grown movies, and this year we've got even bigger, bolder plans - we're heading all the way out to Vancouver, and turning this traveling festival into a truly national program.
We want to keep you in the loop about everything that's going on with REEL CANADA and with Canadian film in general, so please check back often for reviews, updates, interviews with directors and stars, news bulletins and special reports from REEL CANADA schools all over the country.
We hope that your experience with REEL CANADA will be the first step on a long journey of discovery. Enjoy the films. They're yours.
xo
